Sinigang na Baka / Beef Sinigang

Sinigang is a Pinoy favorite. This recipe uses beef but there are other variations that use pork or shrimp. The soup is delightfully sour and goes well with rice.

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo Beef
40 g Sinigang mix
1 pc Eggplant cut into quarter inch thick slices
1 bunch Okra cut in half
1 bunch Kangkong leaves (Remove the woody stems)
1/2 pc Labanos cut into quarter inch slices
1/2 bunch Sitaw cut into 2 inch lengths
3 pcs Siling Haba / Green chili pepper
1 pc medium size Onion sliced
1 tsp Patis / Fish sauce
Salt and pepper

Procedure:

Place the beef in a pot over medium heat.
Add water enough to cover the beef and add the onion and 1 tsp salt.
Let the water boil then cover the pot and lower the heat.
Simmer until the beef is tender.
Add the sinigang mix, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the okra, labanos and sitaw.
Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the eggplant, fish sauce and kangkong.
Cover and simmer until the vegetables are cooked.
Add the siling haba.
Cover and simmer for 3 minutes.
Serve and Enjoy!
