Beef Kaldereta

Beef kaldereta is a hearty beef stew usually served with rice. It’s also good with bread since you can dip the bread and soak up the thick tomato based sauce with the bread slices. Yummm!

Ingredients:

1 pc medium size Onion chopped
4 cloves Garlic chopped
1 pc Bell pepper cut into 8 pieces
2 pcs Siling labuyo (Red chili pepper) chopped
1/4 cup Green peas
1 pc large Potato cut into half inch cubes
1 pc Carrot cut into half inch cubes
500 g Beef cut into cubes / bite size pieces
400 g Tomato sauce
1/4 cup grated Cheese
Salt and Black Pepper
1 cup water
1 tbsp Cooking oil
t tbsp Liver spread

Procedure:

In a cooking pot over medium heat, add the oil and saute the garlic and onion.
When the garlic and onion starts to brown, add the beef into the pot.
Cover and let the beef simmer in its own juices.
Add 1 tsp black pepper and water.
Cover and let simmer until the beef is tender.
Add the tomato sauce and liver spread.
Lower the heat and allow to simmer.
Add the potato, carrot and peas.
Cover until the vegetables are cooked.
Add the cheese.
Season with salt and pepper and add the bell pepper and siling labuyo.
Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
